16th Anniversary Decoration Service
There are some milestones in life that deserve more than just a celebration — they deserve to be etched into memory with love, elegance, and a touch of the extraordinary. For Vikas and Varsha, their 16th wedding anniversary was just that kind of moment. Curated by Kalakriti, a boutique event styling company known for its artistic flair and personalized touch, this celebration was a soulful expression of love, layered with the warmth of boho aesthetics and the glow of intimacy.
Setting the Mood: The Boho Dream
Bohemian, or “boho”, is more than a theme — it’s a feeling. It embraces creativity, freedom, and nature, drawing from a palette of earthy tones, eclectic textures, and hand-crafted decor. Kalakriti, true to its name meaning “a work of art,” transformed a private space into a haven where tradition met bohemian romance. From the moment guests stepped in, they were transported into a serene yet whimsical world designed around the couple’s journey.
The entrance was flanked with cascading floral garlands in off-white, rust orange, and blush pink, interwoven with pampas grass and eucalyptus. Wooden signage with hand-painted calligraphy read, “Sixteen Years of Magic – Vikas & Varsha.” Soft instrumental music played in the background — a mix of acoustic strings and folk rhythms — creating an atmosphere of calm delight.
Balloon Bliss: Airborne Affection
Kalakriti’s interpretation of boho wasn’t limited to the usual macrame hangings and dreamcatchers; they added a modern twist with an exquisite balloon arrangement that blended seamlessly into the theme. No gaudy latex here — instead, matte-finish balloons in muted terracotta, ivory, sage green, and champagne gold were artfully clustered to form organic balloon garlands.
A giant boho-inspired balloon arch framed a wooden photo booth backdrop, made from reclaimed wood panels and adorned with tassels, vintage frames, and dried floral bunches. The balloons were arranged with a flowing, asymmetrical design, making them appear as if they were naturally floating through the setup. Tucked among the balloons were sprigs of dried lavender and baby’s breath, giving the arrangement an earthy fragrance and an extra layer of texture.
The couple’s initials — V & V — were suspended in the center of the arch in metallic rose-gold script, illuminated subtly by fairy lights woven through the balloons. It was a photographer’s dream spot, and one that captured the essence of the celebration perfectly.
Bulbs & Glow: Illuminating Sixteen Years of Togetherness
What truly brought this celebration to life after sunset was the masterful use of lighting. Kalakriti used Edison-style bulbs hung from jute ropes and intertwined with green vines to create a dreamy overhead canopy. The warm yellow glow added a nostalgic charm that complemented the boho palette.
String lights were draped across the ceiling like stardust, and candle lanterns of various shapes — Moroccan, geometric, and glass-domed — were scattered throughout the venue. Each bulb seemed to tell a part of Vikas and Varsha’s story: glowing softly with memories, flickering gently like the excitement of first love, and casting shadows that mirrored the depth and layers of their relationship.
Kalakriti’s attention to detail was evident in the placement of each light source. Some bulbs were clustered around floral installations, while others framed cozy corners with vintage floor cushions and kilim rugs, perfect for guests to lounge and reminisce with the couple.
The Bed Décor: Romance Redefined
Perhaps the most intimate and uniquely curated part of the celebration was the bed décor — a private surprise arranged exclusively for the couple. After the festivities, Vikas and Varsha were led into their bedroom, which had been transformed into a romantic sanctuary. The bed was styled with boho-chic finesse — layers of textured throws in ivory and rust, tasseled cushions, and a linen canopy adorned with fairy lights and dried floral garlands.
Above the bed, a custom macrame wall hanging bore the words “Still Wild About You” — a nod to their adventurous love story. The bed was strewn with soft rose petals, while the headboard was outlined with dimmable bulb string lights that could be adjusted to a golden glow, perfect for quiet moments of reflection.
On either side of the bed were wooden side tables holding scented candles in amber jars — fragrances of sandalwood, patchouli, and vanilla — and handwritten love notes from one to the other, collected by Kalakriti in secret. There was even a small curated basket with their favorite late-night snacks, a polaroid camera to capture the night, and a playlist of songs they danced to over the years.
Handcrafted Touches: Personalized With Love
Beyond the visual spectacle, what made this anniversary truly unforgettable were the personalized, handcrafted elements. Kalakriti worked closely with the couple’s close friends and family to create a memory wall — a series of hanging frames with quotes, candid photos, and timeline notes from each year of their marriage. Each frame was decorated with dried foliage, linen ribbons, and miniature light bulbs, creating a timeline not just of years, but of moments.
Guests were invited to write messages on fabric patches that were later stitched together into a memory quilt — a tactile keepsake representing the warmth of those gathered to celebrate this enduring love story.
Even the dining setup followed the boho theme: rattan chargers, ceramic plates, linen napkins tied with twine, and sprigs of dried rosemary. The menu, a blend of rustic Indian fusion and comfort cuisine, was served family-style, encouraging laughter and storytelling over shared plates.
Conclusion: Sixteen Years, One Everlasting Memory
As the evening drew to a close, Vikas and Varsha stood amidst the gentle flicker of bulbs and the delicate sway of balloon garlands, their hands entwined and eyes full of gratitude. Sixteen years of companionship — of laughter, learning, challenge, and growth — celebrated not with pomp, but with profound beauty.
Kalakriti had not just decorated a venue; they had told a love story. Through the earthy elegance of boho décor, the whimsical grace of balloon art, the glowing warmth of vintage bulbs, and the tender intimacy of the bed design, they honored a marriage that had aged like fine wine — full of flavor, character, and love.
Vikas and Varsha’s 16th anniversary was more than an event. It was a canvas painted with emotion, curated with craftsmanship, and lit by the enduring flame of togetherness — a true Kalakriti in every sense of the word.
